ReSound boldly claims that its new LiNX2 hearing aid line represents “the world’s first full family of smart hearing aids,” offering a new level of sound quality, design, connectivity, and apps, and even including tinnitus management features. Not only has ReSound enhanced the features of its newest LiNX model with “smart technology,” it has expanded the appeal of its LiNX2 by making it available in the full range of styles – from behind-the-ear to invisible in-the-canal versions. And to the delight of the non-iOS world, ReSound has extended the compatibility of its newest LiNX line to the Samsung Galaxy family of smartphones and tablets.
When it comes to their hearing aids, most wearers can tell you pretty quickly which features are “sizzle” and which are “steak.” And nearly all would agree that sound quality is one of the top “steak” features they look for in a high-end hearing aid like LiNX.
LiNX2 delivers. With a technology ReSound calls Binaural Directionality™ II with Spatial Sense™, when listening to conversation in a noisy environment, LiNX2 wearers can zoom in on desired speech without losing the sense of what is going on around them. The hearing aids accomplish this by continuously exchanging information with each other in order to choose the best microphone configuration, thereby bringing up speech while reducing background noise.
Spatial Sense supports the wearer’s ability to know where sounds are coming from, creating a more natural sense of the wearer’s surroundings. Surround Sound is what ReSound calls its unique advanced sound processing technology that takes advantage of the brain’s natural ability both to recognize particular sounds and to determine their origin.
Employing another “smart technology,” called Binaural Environmental Optimizer™ II, LiNX2 alternately adjusts both amplification and noise reduction levels in both hearing aids based on the environment. This results in producing enough volume to hear with listening comfort.
LiNX2 offers an extensive line of designs and colors. LiNX2 is offered in three configurations: basic (model 5, less noisy environments); advanced (model 7, moderately noisy environments); and flagship premium (model 9, challenging noise environments).
LiNX2’s larger behind-the-ear (BTE) and receiver-in-ear (RIE) designs are engineered around usability, comfort and durability. A sturdy mechanical design supports acoustic stability in BTE and RIE models with:
- A battery door design that provides clear On/Off/Open functions built for the long-term
- A battery locking system redesigned for easier operation
- A new smaller design for the part of the hearing that fits in the ear canal (SureFit System), with tubes, domes and receivers that improve sound performance and output levels, and
- A new BTE receiver that delivers a higher maximum output, greater usable frequency range, and low distortion.
A nanotech coating on the hearing aids, both inside and out, provides increased durability by protecting the hearing aids from substances that can cause corrosion, such as moisture, sweat, dust and earwax.
As Made for iPhone® hearing aids, the LiNX2 connects with iPhone, iPad or iTouch devices to make the hearing aids work like Bluetooth stereo headphones. podcasts, YouTube videos, phone or video calls, music – all can be streamed wirelessly from your iOS device.
Users of many Samsung Galaxy devices also can now enjoy similar connectivity (but not in stereo) with LiNX2. Users of any other smartphones equipped with Bluetooth also can experience hands-free phone calls or streaming audio by using the ReSound Unite Phone Clip+. The Phone Clip+ can also act as a remote control for easy volume and program control.
ReSound Smart App – Allows users to fine-tune their LiNX2 to their unique tastes:

LiNX2’s built-in Tinnitus Sound Generator provides personalized sound therapy with a series of water-inspired sounds, like “ocean,” “beach surf,” and “calming waves.” These sounds can be balanced between right and left ears and placed on a timer so the sounds can help users fall asleep.
LiNX2 wearers can further customize their sound therapy by accessing new sounds or music they choose by streaming sound directly from their smartphone to the LiNX2 hearing aids.
Additionally, two apps provide expanded tinnitus management. The ReSound Relief app provides guided relaxation exercises, soundscapes and other activities to create a totally personalized tinnitus solution.
